This one-year Ontario College Certificate program will give you the skills and knowledge you’ll need to excel as a baker or pastry chef in the baking industry. You’ll also gain a strong foundation of industry knowledge and real-world experience through a mandatory field work placement experience and many real-world experiences.
As a Baking and Pastry Arts student, you will spend 60% of your time gaining hands-on experience in baking, cake decorating, and bakery and pastry shop management in our state-of-the-art baking labs under the direction of respected industry professionals.
Students Shine at Ottawa Humane Society Garden Party June 26, 2016
On June 26, 2016, over 30 AC Culinary and Baking students and their chef instructors helped keep the legacy of Chef Kurt Waldele, and his passion to help Ottawa’s animals and culinary students alive, at the annual Ottawa Humane Society Garden Party fundraising event.

Meet The Chefs
Chef Tony Bond
Tony Bond started his career with a four-year baker/pastry chef apprenticeship in the United Kingdom, obtaining Basic and Advanced City and Guilds in all subjects. Before arriving in Canada, Chef Tony worked in several UK bakeries, hotels and restaurants. As well as owning and operating a successful bakery for several years, which supplied numerous hotels and restaurants. Chef Tony has designed, planned and managed several bakeries and pastry departments. At the present time Chef Tony enjoys his work as a full-time professor and coordinator in Algonquin College’s Baking and Pastry Arts Program in our state-of-the-art kitchens and facilities.

You will unleash your creativity in a wide range of specialized areas including chocolate, sugar work, specialty and wedding cakes, artisan breads, plated desserts, gum paste, nutrition and specialty products, gluten free and special diets.
